Shades of Brown

I did a quick twist hairstyle on V last night for a temporary style as we prepare to put in yarn braids this weekend!  I have been wanting to buy these shades of brown barrettes and beads for quite a long time and I FINALLY did it!

As it turns out, she doesn't currently have a lot of brown in her wardrobe, but I think that brown is a really great neutral color that can go along with anything she wears without really clashing.

We took these pics early this morning before the sun had joined us, so I had to use the flash.  The glare on the barrettes makes it a bit difficult to see the true colors, but I think you get the idea. Here are a few more pics.

Don't these colors just feel like fall?!?!

  1. Beautiful twists! My girls have combo hair; some of which is straighter, some curly, some very fine etc. (northern Ethiopian hair)Can't get twists to last more than a few hours in theirs, darn it! It looks so pretty with beads and barrettes. :)

  3. So cute! How is her hair so shiny? How long does it stay so shiny? Can you do a post about the ends of hair and beads/barrettes? While I love them, I think that they are hammering the ends of my dd's hair. I recently had to take her in for a major trim and they probably had to take off an inch in places. While her hair is way less tangly and looks substantially better, we were sorry to see the length go.

  4. This is a very cute and simply hairstyle. I like the color of the beads you are so right that they will go with anything. Are your twist three strand twist? Can you PLEASE do a video on three strant twist??? I have been trying but can't seem to get it.

    Thanks

  5. I love brown! So soothing. I also like the use of the soft bands at the base...I think I'll do that tonite when I refresh dd's hair!

  10. I could be wrong but don't most fresh twists look shiny because of all the fresh oils on them? My dd's look like hers immediately after styling. The look that way for a few days and then I slack off spraying it. LOL!

  11. @Patience - I can't speak for anyone else's twists, but yes, V's always look shinny and gorgeous for a few days and then get a bit more dull looking after that. :) -Katie
